SSA all,
I have a question and would like input/views of all out there. What is "chugli"? Would it be considered "chugli" if I see someone not treating their parents/friends/other (demeaning them) and then I talk to a friend about it?

Slander "CHUGLI"(backbiting), is an untruthful oral statement about a person that harms the person's reputation or standing in the community. There is a great possibility that you do not know the whole truth about their argument. If you are so sure; in stead of talking to someone, try doing what a son/daughter should be doing for his/her parents, you will come to know the truth both about parents and son/daughter.

Chugli is an Urdu word which means gossiping. Gheebat is backbiting. Both, gossiping and backbiting are common in causing mischief. Allah likens backbiting to a person who eats the flesh of his fellow brother. Gossiping is a major sin and also a means of punishment in the grave.
